PROGRAM OVERVIEW
TARGETED STUDENT BODY
- Middle school and elementary school students at financial disadvantages and those having difficulties adapting to the new learning style (since pandemic)
- No child left behind
WHY ONE-TO-ONE TUTORING?
- More effective and efficient than large group meetings
- Each lesson tailored to each individual student based on their needs
- Help students to catch up on curriculum teachings and solidify their understandings
- Flexible times for both sides and will avoid conflicting class meetings
GENERAL INFORMATION
DURATION
- Times for the tutoring program are very flexible and can last from initiation date:
- Until the end of the 2019-2020 school year
- Continue throughout summer break
- And of course, continue into 2020-2021 school year if needed
WHAT IS THE TUTORING LIKE?
- One-to-one tutoring
- 1-hour pre-scheduled session(s) as needed any day of the week

HOW WILL TUTOR SESSIONS BE HELD
- Each student will have their scheduled time
- Sessions will be held on a video call platform that is most convenient for all parties
- Ex. Google Meet, Skype, Zoom etc.
WHAT WILL WE NEED FROM YOUR SCHOOL
- Help with publicity to get the word out that there is another opportunity for students to gain additional assistance in their academics
- Teachers and staff are welcomed to randomly sit in on sessions to give us more feedback
- Information on what areas are best to focus on for each student
JUST A SUGGESTION ON WHERE TO START…
PROGRAM CAN BE SCALABLE
- We can first start in one school within the district and/or with a group of students
- Starting in areas with more need for tutoring services
- This also allows parties to gage effectiveness and need to further extend the program to a broader student body in the district
TUTORING CURRICULUM AND CONTENTS
WHAT CONTENTS WILL BE COVERED?
- Primarily Math, English and Language Arts
- Science and foreign languages are also available, if needed
- Tutors can pick off from when schools shifted teaching styles

This can branch into three directions:
- 1.Common core, as per your state common core standards
- 2.Specific to your schools and what students have been learning before campuses closed
- 3.Work on areas where students are weak in and readying them for success in next level study
WHO ARE OUR TUTORS?

- Ranges from high school students to college students
- Majority of these tutors are high school juniors and seniors
QUALIFICATIONS
- Screening process
- Resumes and references
- Recommendation from counselors (based on transcript and/or teacher/professor recommendation)
- Tutoring sessions will be randomly audited
- Privacy Act Consent Form signed (to protect privacy)
- We also welcome input from your school district and guidelines
COSTS
ZERO COST TO YOUR SCHOOLS
- Since tutors are volunteers, all tutoring sessions will be free of charge
- Volunteer hours will be given to all tutors by Crescent Gateway
